ISTerre

ISTerre is an international research laboratory in Earth Science. With a staff of about 300 researchers, engineers and students, ISTerre is positioning today as leader in Earth Sciences in France and one of the most important in Europe. Strongly involved in national facility RESIF in earth science observation, ISTerre is in charge of the national seismological mobile pool of INSU (SISMOB) and the French accelerometric network. Theresearch team “Geophysics, Risks, Environment” whom the ISTerre participants do belong has a long experience in seismic and gravitational hazard and risk assessment from both experimental and numerical approaches. The team co-develops the open source code SPECFEM3D and is developing the open source Geopgsy software for site characterization from ambient noise measurements, used worldwilde (>10000 users) .This research team has participated to several EU and national projects over the last 20 years in relation with this proposal (e.g. SESAME, SISMOVALP, NERIES, NERA, SHARE, EPOS-IP, SERA European projects). The team is also deeply involved in teaching at the graduate and postgraduate levels, including an active participation in the ERASMUS-MUNDUS master program for engineering seismology and the Earth Sciences master program in Geohazard. The ISTerre team leader is Dr Cécile Cornou.
